Try these delicious recipes that make eating on the go simple!

Mornings tend to be extremely busy, which can often keep you from sitting down to enjoy a nice hearty breakfast. But you can't skip the most important meal of the day – it fuels you with the nutrients your brain and body needs to power through the morning. But what can you do if you're pressed for time? Don't worry – here are a few great grab-and-go breakfast recipes!

Fig, Applesauce and Almond Breakfast Loaf
This delicious recipe from Cooking Light magazine makes two loaves of bread.


For the streusel:

  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. chopped almonds
  • 1 Tbsp. chilled butter - cut into small pieces
  • 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon

For the bread:

  • Cooking spray
  • 1 cup dried figs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup applesauce
  • 1/3 cup plain fat-free yogurt
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
  • 1/3 cup chopped almonds - toasted
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda


First, heat your oven to 350 and prepare two bread pans with non-stick cooking spray and dust with a tablespoon of flour.

In a small bowl, combine all streusel ingredients with a fork. Set aside.

In a small saucepan, bring a cup of water to a boil until it reduces to half. Transfer to a small bowl with figs and let sit for about 30 minutes. During that time, whisk egg whites in a small bowl. Then, add applesauce, yogurt, oil and almond extract, sugar and stir well.

Combine all-purpose flour and whole-wheat flour in a large bowl. Drain figs, chop them up and add to the applesauce mixture. Then, stir wet mixture into dry ingredients until well combined. Divide mixture into bread pans and sprinkle streusel mixture on top.

Place in the oven and bake for about 55 minutes. Let cool for 15 minutes in pans, then remove and let cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy!

Maple, Pecan and Sour Cherry Granola Bars
Granola bars make the perfect on-the-go breakfast treat. You'll never buy them from the grocery store again after trying this simple recipe from Bon Appetit!


  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup pecans – chopped
  • 1 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut shavings
  • 1/2 cup flaxseed
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup dried sour cherries
  • 3/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. virgin coconut oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 large egg white – beaten well


First, heat your oven to 375 degrees and prepare a 13x9-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.

Then, toss your oats, pecans, pumpkin seeds, coconut, flaxseed and almonds in a bowl. Pour mixture onto prepared baking sheet. Place in the oven and cook for about 15 minutes, tossing occasionally.

Once the time is up, reduce the oven temperature to 325 degrees. Transfer mixture to a large bowl, adding cherries and wheat germ.

In a small saucepan, bring maple syrup, brown sugar, coconut oil, vanilla and salt to a boil until sugar is completely dissolved – this should take about four minutes. After letting the mixture cool for 15 minutes, whisk in the egg white.

Once the mixture is fully combined, pour back onto prepared baking sheet and bake for about 45 minutes. Let cool for about 30 minutes and slice into 16 bars.

This recipe can be enjoyed for up to three weeks!

Pigs in a Pool
This cute recipe from Taste of Home magazine is a creative breakfast to make for your grandchildren when they come over to visit!


  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 large egg – lightly beaten
  • 2 cups fat-free milk
  • 2 Tbsp. canola oil
  • 2 Tbsp. honey
  • Maple syrup for dipping


First, heat your oven to 350 and prepare a mini-muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.

Next, form sausage into 48 3/4-inch meatballs. Place on a baking sheet prepared with cooking spray and bake until fully cooked – this should take about 20 minutes. Set aside and let cool.

Using a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. In a separate bowl, combine egg, milk, oil and honey until fully blended. Combine dry and wet mixtures until just moistened.

Transfer a meatball into each mini-muffin tin cups and cover with pancake batter. Bake for about 25 minutes, then let cool for five. Transfer to wire racks and serve with maple syrup. Enjoy!
